Best parks to see it: Widespread

The most common of all Kenyan large herons. Found in farmlands, open grasslands and woodland clearings throughout the country, except in the most arid north and east regions. It can stray off wet areas more than other herons. Breeds in colonies and feeds on terrestrial invertebrates and small mammals.
