Grey crowned crane
'Balearica regulorum'
Swahili: Korongo taji mweusi

Best parks to see it: Widespread

Widespread and common in wetlands above 4,200 ft (1,300 m) in western and central regions, from the central Highlands to lake Victoria and Mount Elgon. Gregarious except in the breeding season. There is a similar animal although darker in colour, the black crowned crane, rarely observed at Lake Turkana, and considered by some experts to be a different species.
