Superb starlings at Sweetwaters Game Reserve. Javier Yanes/Kenyalogy.com
Superb starling
'Lamprotornis superbus'
Swahili: Kwenzi maridadi

Best parks to see it: Widespread

Very common and widespread below 7,200 ft (2,200 m). Only absent from south coast and northeast tip, and is very scarce at the Lake Victoria basin. Very frequently found in groups feeding on the ground. Its most distinctive feature, that allows an easy identification from other glossy starlings, is the white breast band. Its call sometimes mimics other birds.
