Vulturine guineafowl
'Acryllium vulturinum'
Swahili: Kicheleko
Best parks to see it: Samburu, Meru, Tsavo
Locally common from Samburu and Lake Turkana eastward, down to the Somali border and the coast, and southward through Tsavo. Inhabits arid bush. Forms large flocks that come out to open land to feed. In Samburu it is easy to watch the groups going down to the river to drink when the evening falls. Contrary to what might be thought, they are good flyers.
