The most abundant vulture in northern Kenya. Prefers open and dry country. Widespread except west of Lake Turkana, Lake Victoria basin, central region between the two great rivers, and eastern region down to the north coast. Nests in rocky walls. The adult is easily distinguished from other species for its spotted pattern and yellow bill. The juvenile is more similar to the African white-backed vulture, but with a paler bill.
