Parks & reserves: Safari itineraries
One week
Many standard safaris include a one-week stay in Kenya. Though it is highly advisable to spend a minimum of two weeks to explore all the essential parks, here are some itineraries that will help you make the most of a seven-day trip. You can choose an express safari through the most relevant parks to catch a glimpse of all Kenya has to offer, or take a more unhurried option concentrating in one of the most popular safari routes, like the Central Highlands or the Rift Valley lakes.
If you only have one week to spend in Kenya, a trip from Amboseli to Samburu via Aberdare can make a nice safari. Along this itinerary you will travel through many different ecogeographical regions and you will be able to see most of the relevant wildlife. However, this itinerary does not cover Masai Mara, which is an inescapable visit, so it is only recommended if you have travelled to Kenya before or you plan to do it again in the future.
The itinerary includes a two-night stay in Aberdare National Park, which will allow you to enjoy the night experience at Treetops and yet have another day to explore the park on your own.

This itinerary is specially recommended for keen birders, though you will also see most of the relevant mammals, except elephants. A visit to Nairobi National Park is included to increase your chances of spotting lions, though other big cats will be a more unlikely sight.
